Interesting Computer Equipment
I was working around the hospital today and guess what I found.
This cart is made by Ergotron with rechargable power supply at the base. It has this tiny LCD display down there showing the percentage backup power left. The whole idea is obviously making the computer available everywhere on the floor.
The cart itself is multiple times more expensive than the computer. =)

I’m an IT Consultant by day for a major healthcare provider. These mobile carts are becoming the norm now, and great for nurses and physicians to move them around from room to room while charting patient information. Many will have medical equipment attached via USB to take pulse and other vitals.
Some drawbacks are since they are mobile, they use WiFi which can be spotty in certain areas. When the devices are low in battery, a sound beeps alerting the users to charge the device.
By the looks of that keyboard it’s powered by an HP computer. They should invest in a better lit-up, spill-proof keyboards like the ones we use at my workplace.
The truth is I seldom see anyone in the hospitals using them.
The only exception is the morning round in ICU where the big crowd of students all reading the info from the same tiny screen. =P
